Do you need a mold licence to work in Georgia?
We could not find a statewide mold remediation licence program for Georgia, so most Georgia mold work is governed by general contractor licensing, insurance requirements and what carriers or clients ask for — which in practice is usually IICRC certification. Confirm your own situation with the state licensing boards and your county or city before you bid.
Check the current rules with the Georgia Secretary of State — Professional Licensing Boards, and read our state-by-state mold remediation licence overview for how certification and licensing fit together. AMRT is a certification you earn by taking an IICRC-approved course and passing the exam; a state licence, where one exists, is separate paperwork filed with the agency above.
If nothing in Georgia lines up with your schedule, the IICRC also recognises online live-stream AMRT classes — same course hours, same exam, no travel, and open to Georgia technicians. Livestream dates appear further down this page. Either way, you'll need WRT first: it is the prerequisite for sitting AMRT, and you can prepare for it at WRTTraining.com. Once you're booked, work through the free AMRT practice test so class day is revision rather than first exposure.

AMRT classes in Georgia: what to expect
If you're looking for a AMRT class near you in Georgia, you're trying to get IICRC-certified quickly, locally, and without paying for travel. In-person Applied Microbial Remediation Technician courses in Georgia typically run as 3–4 day classes concentrated around Atlanta, Augusta and Savannah, with the closest regional IICRC training hub in Atlanta, GA. The curriculum is the same nationwide — the ANSI/IICRC S520 standard, mold biology and ecology, containment and negative air, HEPA filtration, PPE selection, remediation methods, and post-remediation verification — but scheduling density varies a lot by state. Georgia's schedule reflects local demand.
Local conditions matter more than most techs expect on exam day. Georgia's climate is humid subtropical, so the microbial growth you'll remediate here is driven by crawlspace humidity, storm intrusion, and HVAC condensation. Remediation volume tends to spike during spring through early fall, and a lot of Georgia restoration companies push their crews to get AMRT-certified just before that window. Atlanta is a regional IICRC hub, so AMRT and applied microbial scheduling here is denser than most Southeast markets. The S520 doesn't change state to state, but the jobs you'll apply it to absolutely do — and the AMRT exam rewards techs who can recognize the right approach for the conditions in front of them.
If you can't find an in-person AMRT class in Georgia on a date that works, the IICRC also recognizes online live-stream AMRT courses — same certification, same exam, no travel cost. Pair the live-stream course with the free AMRT practice exam and the containment, negative air and ACH calculators on this site, and most Georgia techs are ready to sit the exam in 2–4 weeks of consistent prep.
